Portugal news – The luxury boutique hotel Solar de Vila Meã, that opened in November 2023 in northern Portugal, is highlighted in North American magazine Surface due to the exceptional character of the late 19th Century villa that was restored with the best of Portuguese craft traditions.

Surface magazine, that covers the worlds of travel and architecture, has selected Portugal’s new boutique hotel Solar de Vila Meã for its warm and unique Portuguese architecture and design. Set in the lush vineyards a short distance from Porto, the secluded 19th-century manor was renovated into a colorful 29-room hotel with panoramic views of rolling hills that are sure to delight oenophiles.

The historical manor, that is set in the Vinho Verde wine region in the Braga district in northern Portugal, was renovated with flair by Portuguese designer Joana Aranha Studio. The architecture and interior design studio creates extraordinary living for extraordinary people through beautiful design that translates into an unexpected fusion of feelings, aromas, and experiences.  

In its Opening Shot column that peeks inside new hotels with dreamy interiors, Surface magazine describes the opulent Honesty Bar and lounge, and the seven suites with one-of-a-kind panoramic murals of vistas inspired by the area’s rolling, romantic landscapes. For a glimpse of authentic Portuguese living, guests can lounge by the spa’s outdoor pool to enjoy the view over the vineyards and taste the local specialties.
