Portugal news – The average salary in Portugal is over 1,600 euros, having increased by more than 6% in the second quarter of 2024.
The average salary is not to be confused with the minimum wage. The minimum wage per month in Portugal in 2024 is 820 euros, but it is paid over 14 months. The minimum wage per month in Portugal in 2024 is therefore 956,66 Euros if it is paid over 12 months.
On the other hand, the average salary in Portugal is much higher than the minimum wage, since the average monthly gross remuneration per worker in Portugal is 1,640 euros, having increased by 6.4 % in the quarter ending in June 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.
However, since part of the average salary increase was offset by inflation, the real average salary increase in Portugal is 3.6% in 2024, according to the National Statistics Institute (INE).
