Portuguese tech startup Barkyn developed the Barkyn Assistant app, a groundbreaking feature that empowers pet owners with real-time insights into their dog’s health by leveraging the power of AI and machine learning through Google Cloud.

With Google Cloud’s advanced technologies, Barkyn Assistant can analyze images of dog’s fur, eyes, teeth, and others, to generate a comprehensive health score rating from 0 to 100. This assessment enables pet owners to identify potential health issues early on and take preventive measures. Assistant also offers personalized health tips from experts to improve a dog’s well-being, facilitates vet appointments scheduling, and helps pet owners discover nearby dog-friendly parks, restaurants, and other amenities. 

Google Cloud’s robust tools Vertex AI and Gemini, empowered Barkyn to create an innovative tailored solution that seemed almost impossible on paper. The development of Assistant, powered by Google Cloud technologies, has allowed Barkyn to pursue its mission of becoming a 360-degree health service for dogs, moving beyond nutrition to address every aspect of pet wellness. The training of the AI model was an intensive and collaborative process. The team began by digesting extensive scientific research, consulting specialists, and synthesizing data into actionable insights.
