Portugal news – Spanish supermarket chain Mercadona is creating a Tech Hub in Porto. With an IT team that includes more than 1,000 professionals, Mercadona is recruiting a team of tech experts for its new Porto Tech Hub that is part of Mercadona IT Team.

Mercadona’s Tech Hub in Porto will focus on the digitalization and reengineering of the more than 300 internal systems and applications used in the chain's more than 1,600 supermarkets in Portugal and Spain, as well as in its 17 logistics clusters.

The new tech jobs available in Mercadona’s Tech Hub in Portugal include positions such as Java Back Developer professionals, specialists in areas such as software development and architecture, cybersecurity, DevOps, data management, product management, product designers, cloud, IT infrastructure or UX/UI design.

Since Mercadona opened its first supermarket in Portugal in 2019 in Porto, the Spanish conglomerate has already invested 1 billion euros in Portugal where it created nearly 6,000 new jobs. In 2023, Mercadona registered a total turnover of 35,527 million euros, of which 1,403 million euros were in Portugal where it almost doubled sales compared to 2022.
