Mitsubishi FUSO chooses Portugal as its European Hub

News Economy Europe - Mitsubishi FUSO chooses Portugal as its European Hub, having announced the transfer of its international trucking business from Germany to Lisbon on October 2nd, 2026. Here are the reasons why Mitsubishi FUSO chose Portugal as its European Hub:
Why did Mitsubishi FUSO choose Portugal as its European Hub?
The choice of Portugal as the Mitsubishi Fuso European Hub is due to the fact that all Mitsubishi Fuso vehicles sold in Europe are made in Portugal since Portugal is a central point of connection to 41 European countries. Therefore, the European distribution and after-sales service of the Mitsubishi Fuso brand will now be coordinated in Lisbon in conjunction with the headquarters in Japan. Japanese truck manufacturer Mitsubishi Fuso´s regional Hub in Lisbon will coordinate marketing activities, training for automotive distributors, and technical training.
The Mitsubishi FUSO holding company has expanded its investments in Portugal and is now developing a new truck model - Canter 26 - that will be compatible with green hydrogen. The Mitsubishi FUSO brand will contribute to the decarbonization of the automotive industry by focusing on carbon neutrality while strengthening the commercial vehicle market by developing Connected, Autonomous, Shared, and Electric vehicles, including hydrogen vehicles.
Mitsubishi Fuso trucks have been manufactured in Portugal for almost 50 years as the Portuguese plant has manufactured the Fuso Canter light truck, the Fuso medium truck, the Mitsubishi L200 pickup, the L300 van, and the Pajero jeep. The forecast is that more garbage trucks and cranes will adopt the more environmentally friendly version of the Mitsubishi FUSO Canter trucks that have started production in Portugal.
The merger of Mitsubishi Fuso and Toyota Hino in June 2025 led to the joint venture Archion. The joint venture between Daimler Truck, Mitsubishi Fuso, Hino Motors and Toyota Motor Corporation led to the integration of Mitsubishi Fuso and Hino. The new Mitsubishi FUSO European Hub in Portugal is a long-term growth platform for the European market and will ensure greater proximity to partners and, above all, to customers.
