Portugal news - More than half of passenger vehicles sold in Portugal are green, according to ACAP.
While Portugal’s automotive market overall has grown by 7.8% for the first half of 2024, nearly 52% of passenger vehicles sold during the first half of the year are eco-friendly vehicles, mostly electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles.
During the first half of 2024, 16.5% of sales of new light passenger vehicles in Portugal are electric vehicles (BEV). HEV vehicle sales in Portugal for the first half of 2024 account for 15.7% of sales and PHEV vehicles account for 12.2% of sales.
Overall, the sales of new light passenger vehicles in Portugal registered an increase of 5.7% for the first six months of 2024 compared to the same period the previous year. For sales of light goods vehicles in Portugal, there was an increase of 22.9 percent compared to the same period in 2023. For sales of heavy vehicles in Portugal, there was a market growth of 14.7 percent compared to the same period in 2023.
