Portugal´s Sustainable Development Programme 2030 has launched a €25 million call for proposals to strengthen the energy security and resilience of critical infrastructure. The support covers 85% of the total investment for approved projects.

Entities from the Central Public Administration and the State Business Sector responsible for essential services, particularly in the areas of health, drinking water supply, and wastewater treatment, are eligible to apply for Portugal´s Tender for Sustainable development projects.

Projects must integrate energy storage systems, grid connection, and the ability to operate autonomously in the event of a grid failure.

Eligible expenses include batteries, photovoltaic panels, monitoring equipment, software, studies, designs, and engineering work.

Portugal is "boosting investment in competitive and clean energy through self-consumption, storage, networks, and energy efficiency. Energy sovereignty is essential for maintaining critical infrastructure" - Portugal´s Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion, Castro Almeida.

Portugal´s Minister of Environment and Energy, Maria da Graça Carvalho, stated that Portugal´s tender for Critical Infrastructure projects is a "fundamental step towards ensuring the security of supply for critical infrastructure in the event of a power grid failure."
