Portugal news – Portugal ranks in the Top 10 Fall Destinations for Americans, and this marks the first time Portugal has made it to the list of Top 10 Fall Destinations, according to Squaremouth. Here are the Top 10 autumn travel and spending trends for 2024:
US Travel insurance company Squaremouth, that has insured over 3 million travelers, uses a quoting and comparison engine for verified customer reviews that help travelers save time and money when they plan to travel.
According to Squaremouth, travel is still up by over 8% this fall despite the fact that the cost of travel has continued to rise throughout 2024. Average fall trip costs have gone up over 36% in a single year from $5,907 in 2023, to a staggering $8,056 this fall.
The most notable travel trends for US customers are first, the fact that Americans are flocking to Italy with over 12% of American travelers opting to travel to Italy this year, compared to only 8% last fall; and second, the fact that this fall marks the first time Portugal has made it to the list of Top 10 travel destinations for American tourists. Another notable travel fact among American tourists is that Boomers are leading the travel game this fall, making up nearly half of all travelers at 47%, up from 34% last year.
