Portugal Celebrities’ news - Portuguese fado singer, Carminho, sings in the movie Poor Things with Emma Stone. The movie première is in New York on December 8, 2023 and will start showing in the UK on January 12th, 2024.

During the Première of Poor Things, Portuguese fado singer, Carminho, is photographed with Taylor Swift and with Emma Stone.

 

Poor Things with Emma Stone is by the three-time Oscar-nominated Greek filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos and is an adaptation of the award-winning book by Scotsman Alasdair Gray. Portuguese fado singer Carminho performs a special song called “O Quarto” in the movie and also during the movie Première.

 

The movie is about Bella Baxter, played by Emma Stone, who is a young woman resurrected by Dr. Godwin Baxter. While the story-line is reminiscent of Frankenstein, the heroine is led by her desire to live every experience of life to the fullest and she does so in the company of lawyer Duncan Wedderburn, played by Mark Ruffalo, with who she lives a a turbulent adventure of liberation.

 

The Portuguese fado music style, that is usually sung by a single person accompanied by a Portuguese guitar, is listed as a Cultural and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
