Portugal news - Portuguese startup Storming Universe raised USD 750,000 to produce drones to deliver medicine to developing countries and remote areas.
The Portuguese startup ecosystem is thriving and tech startup Storming Universe, a spin-off of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, raised seed investment to develop drone technology for the transport of merchandise.
Storming Universe produced innovative low-cost drone technology that was developed by the CEO, Nepalese researcher Anuj Regmi. The new technology will make it possible to tackle a significant barrier to democratizing access to medical care across long distances globally.
Following a successful test mission to deliver medicines in Nepal, the Portuguese drone startup plans to deliver medicines to remote areas of Nepal at altitudes above 5,000 meters. In a country where lives are often lost due to impassable roads and delayed medical care, the Amma project, which means “mother” in Nepali is a beacon of hope.
The drones developed by Storming Universe have the capability to connect Madrid to the Azores within five hours while carrying up to 500 kg of cargo. Cargo drones represent the future of merchandise transport connecting even the most remote areas.
