Portugal news – A Portuguese woman ranks in the list of 19 winners of the Microsoft Power Women Awards.

Portuguese woman Paula Francisca Fernandes is one of the 19 winners of the Microsoft Power Women Awards 2024, that aims at giving visibility to women from the EMEA region who hold leadership positions in the Microsoft ecosystem.

Paula Francisca Fernandes is not only the Managing Director of Accenture in Portugal, but she is also in charge of the Technology area. Paula Francisca heads a team of more than 2,000 highly specialized tech professionals in the Advanced Technology Centers. These specialized tech centers are based in multiples locations including Lisbon, Braga and Coimbra, and 44% of employees are women.

The Portuguese winner of the Microsoft Power Women Awards 2024 intends to continue with her mission of empowering people and organizations to leverage technology and diversity to create value in an efficient and increasingly ethical and responsible way.

The Microsoft Power Women Awards is an initiative that highlights women who are paving new paths and achieving new goals in the technology sector, without neglecting the theme of diversity and inclusion.

According to Abel Aguiar, Executive Director for Channel and Partners at Microsoft Portugal, although women represent 49% of total employment in non-STEM professions, only 29% take on roles related to technology. Furthermore, this representation drops to less than 18% in high-level leadership positions. Microsoft intends to change these statistics by highlighting talented women in leadership from across the EMEA region.

The Microsoft Power Women Awards 2024 received around 400 nominations, out of which there are 19 winners from 15 EMEA countries, namely Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
