Tech News Europe – Sword Health just raised 40 million dollars in a funding round led by General Catalyst, with the participation of Khosla Ventures, Comcast Ventures, Lince Capital, Oxy Capital, Armilar, Indico Capital and Shilling, raising the valuation of Portuguese Unicorn Sword Health to 4 billion dollars.

This new funding round by Sword Health will allow the Healthtech Unicorn to develop their research in basic AI and to accelerate their expansion into new areas such as mental health, just as they have already done for millions of patients suffering from physical pain, according to the founder and CEO of Sword Health, Virgílio Bento.

The AI-based solution developed by Sword Health “Mind” will operate with the same B2B2C model as its other services, as it is a service purchased by companies that make them available to employees.

In January, Sword Health purchased British company Surgery Hero to collaborate with 18 entities of the United Kingdom's National Health Service.

Portuguese Unicorn Sword Health currently has more than 1,000 employees globally, of which around half are located in Portugal and has already received more than $300 million from investors.
