EU migration news - Which EU countries have the lowest cost of living for first-time home buyers? The above chart shows the ranking of the Top 10 cheapest countries in the EU to relocate to with the aim of buying a house and still have a low cost of living.
The cost-of-living crisis has been steadily increasing, with 93% of Europeans stating that they are seriously worried about how they will cope.
Since the cost of living varies greatly across the EU, Swiss company Credwise has analyzed the cost of housing per square meter for first time home buyers, as well as the cost of living for a family of four and the cost of living for a single person, in order to obtain an index of Housing Cost Points.
The new index shows the cheapest countries for families and for singles considering relocating with the aim of purchasing a house.
There are around 80 million single adult households in the EU, accounting for over half of the total. Between 2013 and 2023, the rate of people living alone without children rose by more than 21%, becoming the fastest growing real-estate segment in the EU.
