    Portuguese architecture students win world competition - Portugal Business News Portugal news - Portuguese architecture students from the University of Porto won the prestigious Saint-Gobain world competition in Finland.   The award-winning architectural project will transform an area belonging to the University of Helsinki, located in the Viikki area, on the outskirts of the Finland’s capital.  The 'Sieni Park' project, designed by Portuguese architecture students Francisco Peneda Ferreira, Pedro Tiago Gaspar and João Pedro Henriques, was the best out of 224 projects by participating universities from 29 countries.   According to the jury, the Portuguese architectural project was unique as "the integration of the old building into the general architecture was perfect."   The 'Sieni Park' project, proposed by the Portuguese team, is rooted in Finnish culture and its sense of community, offering a peaceful refuge in Viikki, connecting homes, workplaces and the nearby university campus, according to a statement by Saint-Gobain.   The award-winning architectural project combines both old and new structures in a coherent design that is based on three fundamental pillars: sustainability, innovation and comfort. The result is a futuristic and sustainable project that honors and enhances the local traditions in the field of ecological construction practices.   Portugal’s awarded architectural project combines urban planning, architectural details and solutions that are both comprehensive and of a high level. Moreover, the urban composition is innovative, and the wooden structure is sophisticated.   French multinational Saint-Gobain designs, manufactures and distributes materials and services for the construction and industrial markets.     Why is Lufthansa Group investing massively in Portugal? - Portugal Business News Portugal news - Lufthansa Group is investing massively in Portugal with a new Lufthansa Technik plant for the repair of engine parts and aircraft components.   German multinational Lufthansa Group is building and opening its own plant in Portugal for the first time in its history to provide technological services to the aviation industry through Lufthansa Technik.   Lufthansa Technik just bought a 230,000 square meter property in the “Lusopark” business park in the district of Aveiro in the Porto Metropolitan Area. The new Lufthansa Technik Portugal plant is expected to be completed by the end of 2027 and will be equipped with the latest technologies in the MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) industry.     Why did Lufthansa Group choose Portugal for its new plant?   Lufthansa Group sent teams from Lufthansa Technik to Portugal and they worked for several months to find the ideal location for a multi-million-euro investment in a new state-of-the-art plant.   The main reasons why the Lufthansa Group chose Portugal to invest massively through the new Lufthansa Technik plant include the following:   1 – One important reason for the Lufthansa Group   choice of location is Portugal's position in the European Union.   2 – Portugal’s stable political framework conditions are a decisive factor.   3 - Another equally important reason for the Lufthansa Group’s choice of Portugal for their new plant is the country’s good infrastructure.   4 – Portugal’s labor market is especially attractive for setting-up an plant in the aviation industry in Portugal.   5 - The choice of the Lufthansa Group’s new location in Portugal is mainly due to the fact that the new Lufthansa Technik plant in Portugal will be strategically positioned to further expand as the global market leader in providing technological services for the aviation industry to serve their over 800 international customers.   This new investment is also a sign of the Lufthansa Group's commitment to Portugal.   Lufthansa Group obtained the support of the Portuguese government, represented by the trade and investment agency AICEP, and of the city of Santa Maria da Feira to go ahead with their investment plans. Moreover, Portuguese law firm Morais Leitão is advising Lufthansa Technik on the project.     The choice of Portugal for the new Lufthansa Technik plant represents a further step towards the reindustrialization of Portugal. According to Portuguese Minister of Economy, Pedro Reis, this “demonstrates the strong confidence in our national infrastructure and human capital, particularly in our highly skilled engineers and technicians in the aeronautics sector. Portugal’s Central Bank, Banco de Portugal, published a post on Elon Musk's social network saying that it was their last post to announce that Banco de Portugal had formerly abandoned X:    “@banco de Portugal has decided to discontinue its publications on X. This account will continue to exist as an archive. We remain active on Linkedin, Instagram and YouTube. Find out more about Banco de Portugal at bportugal.pt .” The post ends with the hashtag #goodbyeX.   On the other hand, Portugal’s Central Bank has announced on Linkedin, that they will be replacing X with Bluesky: “New platform, new connections. We are getting closer. Hello, Bluesky!”   Bluesky is a social media platform similar to X where users can share short posts containing text, images, and videos. It is owned by Bluesky Social PBC, a benefit corporation based in the United States.   Portugal’s Central Bank had already announced that the Court of Auditors had decided to abandon both X and Facebook, due to "numerous situations that violate national legislation and European Union legislation".   In a ruling, the Court of Auditors of Portugal’s Central Bank explains that it has used these platforms as “official channels for disseminating its activity”, but that they have “ been sanctioned for violating fundamental rights, in particular for failure to comply with data protection and consumer protection legislation. ”   The document adds the platform X has abandoned content verification, which has resulted in the proliferation of hate speech, and the use of this platform to promote disinformation is evident.   Recently, the Facebook platform announced the end of fact-checking and of the moderation of hate speech, thus disregarding the legal framework of the European Union, in particular the Digital Services Regulation”.   Germany’s Central Bank, the Deutsche Bundesbank, also decided to abandon X, together with other international media outlets such as The Guardian, La Vanguardia and Le Monde.   In November, account deactivations on X peaked the day after the US election, with more than 280,000 deactivations recorded across the web globally on November 6. In the US alone, around 115,000 people have already left the X platform.
