Overnight stays in Portugal grew by 10.8%, for all types of tourist accommodation, including Airbnb accommodation, from January to November 2023. This represents a growth rate of +15.3% for non-resident tourists and of +1.6% for resident tourists.

Airbnb accommodation (Alojamento Local) in Portugal registered a growth of 28.5% for the period January to November 2023.

 

Airbnb accommodation in Portugal registered increases of 15.8% for total income and 14.5% for income per room (Proveitos de aposento) for overnight stays in November 2023. Compared to November 2019, Airbnb accommodation in Portugal registered a growth of 51.7% for total income and 51.5% for income per room.

 

For rural tourism sector in Portugal, that accounts for 3.1% of total income and 3.0% of income per room, there was a 13.0% and 11.8% growth respectively. Compared to November 2019, the profits in this segment increased by 88.0% and 83.7% respectively.

 

 

How much profit does an Airbnb make in Portugal?


The profit that an Airbnb makes in Portugal, that is the average yield per occupied room (ADR) in Portugal grew by 4.8% in the hospitality sector (that is +11.1% more than in October) and 9.0% for Airbnb accommodation, called Alojamento Local, (that is +8.6% more than in October), reaching 93.8 euros and 77.6 euros, respectively in November 2023. For rural tourism and housing, the ADR grew by 1.8% (that is +7.3% more than in October), reaching 102.1 euros.

 

 

What is the Airbnb income in Lisbon?

 

The Airbnb income in Lisbon concentrated a quarter of total overnight stays in Portugal in November 2023, out of the total of 4.6 million overnight stays (that is +7.5%) in the tourism hospitality sector. 74.8% of tourist overnight stays were concentrated in the 23 main municipalities.
