Portugal´s new Surfing destination: Surfers Cove
Portugal´s first Surf Village, Surfers Cove in Óbidos, that is around a 45-minute drive to surfing hotspots Nazaré and Ericeira, is set to open in December 2026.
Billabong, one of the most iconic brands in the surf industry, has become as an official partner of Surfers Cove Portugal, that is already allowing advance bookings for surf sessions and stays. United by a shared passion for the ocean and surf culture, this partnership brings together Billabong’s global legacy and Portugal´s new surfing destination where waves, community and lifestyle come together. Billabong will provide equipment for surfing teams and for the Surf Academy, including wetsuits and surf wear, as well as a brand presence in the visual identity and experience of Portugal´s Surfers Cove.
¨We share the same desire to contribute to the evolution of surfing and to create the best conditions for those who are starting out, for those who want to improve their technique, and for those who seek to train at the highest level,” stated Marcelo Martins, surf operations manager, Surfers Cove Portugal.
Surfers Cove integrates the latest Wavegarden Cove technology, comprising 46 modules and capable of generating up to 1000 waves per hour and more than 25 swells, adapted to different levels of surfing practice.
Portugal´s new Surfing destination also includes a tourist village, restaurants, sports and leisure facilities, in an area of five hectares, establishing itself as a new benchmark destination for Surfing and Sports Tourism in Portugal and Europe.
Surf tourists will now be able to book stays at the Surf Village, a tourist village integrated into Surfers Cove, allowing visitors to combine surfing and accommodation into a single experience. Stay Packs are available for T0, T1 and T2 accommodation units, starting from €217 per night.
