Portugal news – A made in Portugal car will gain visibility at the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games to be held on July 26th to August 11th.

The electric vehicle (EV), that was designed specifically for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, is an Accessible People Mover (APM), that is intended for transporting people with reduced mobility and for freight transport. The Toyota plant in Portugal will produce 250 Accessible People Mover EVs under the Recovery and Resilience Program (PRR), that represents an investment of 10 million euros.

The Made in Portugal electric vehicle is one of the most innovative projects developed with funding from the PRR. The EV is one of the products developed by the Be.Neutral consortium, led by Nos, and is just one of the 48 integrated sustainable mobility products and services developed in Portugal in order to accelerate the reduction of carbon emissions in urban areas.

With the focus on developing innovative products, Portugal has not only successfully managed to find new export markets but has also managed to obtain higher added value in the manufacturing sector. The production of innovative EVs in Portugal is an example of sophisticated goods produced by Portuguese manufacturing plants, since 38% of Portuguese exports are already high and medium-high technology goods.Â
