Portugal and the United States launch CEO Forum to strengthen economic cooperation
News Economy Europe - The “CEO Forum Portugal–United States” will bring together governments and companies from both countries to promote trade, investment, and new opportunities for cooperation in strategic sectors. The new platform fulfills the commitment made at the 52nd Permanent Bilateral Commission, held in Lisbon in January 2026. The objective is to deepen economic relations between Portugal and the United States and strengthen cooperation in areas such as technology and digital platforms, energy and infrastructure, the pharmaceutical and health industries, defense, and the aerospace industry. What is the CEO Forum Portugal–United States?
According to Portugal´s Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, Paulo Rangel, the CEO Forum Portugal–United States "reflects the common desire to deepen our economic and business relationship," strengthening transatlantic cooperation in a demanding international context.
Castro Almeida, Portugal´s Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion, emphasizes that Portugal intends to establish itself "as a platform for investment, innovation and value creation between Europe and the United States" and highlights the forum's role in promoting new partnerships between Portuguese and American companies.

The private sector will play an active role in identifying priorities and opportunities for economic cooperation, drawing on the experience and market knowledge of participating companies. The forum's recommendations will respect national and European legal frameworks, as well as the regulatory competencies and strategic interests of each country. The first edition of the “CEO Forum Portugal–United States” will take place in Lisbon, on the sidelines of the “Web Summit”.
