Held every two years, WorldSkills is the largest international competition dedicated to professions and vocational training. The WorldSkills Shanghai Competition 2026 involves 1,400 Competitors from 68 countries and regions who are celebrated for their achievements and their passion for skills. Gold, silver, and bronze medals are awarded to the highest-scoring competitors across all 64 skill competitions, while Medals for Excellence are awarded to those who have shown they can achieve world-class standards.
WorldSkills Portugal is a structure integrated into the Institute of Employment and Vocational Training (IEFP).
Here are the awards won by Portugal in the Robotics sector as a whole in 2026:
1 - Robot Systems Integration:
Portugal won 2nd place with a Silver Medal awarded to LORIS SGROJ and DIOGO PINTO for their achievement in Robot Systems Integration.
2 - Mechatronics:
In the field of Mechatronics, that includes mechanics, pneumatics, electronically controlled systems, programming, and robotics and systems development, Portugal won 5th place with a Medal for Excellence awarded to SIMÃO ALVES and DIOGO BOTELHO.
DIOGO BOTELHO, who achieved 2nd place in the championship, attended a vocational course in industrial mechatronics and intends to pursue higher education in automation and control engineering.
3 - Autonomous Mobile Robotics:
Portugal also won 6th place with a Medal for Excellence awarded to DUARTE SERRA and DANIEL SILVA for their achievement in Autonomous Mobile Robotics.
4 - Computer Numeric Control Milling:
In the field of CNC Milling, that is Computer Numeric Control Milling, Portugal won 8th place with a Medal for Excellence awarded to DMITRY ZHIVITSA.
5 - Industrial Control for Automation technology:
In the field of Industrial Control for Automation technology, Portugal won 10th place with a Medal for Excellence awarded to NELSON RIBEIRO.
