Portuguese renewable energy boats win prizes in the Monaco Challenge

Portugal news - Portuguese Técnico Solar Boat won the 2nd prize in the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge 2024, while their hydrogen-powered boat prototype won the Eco-Conception Prize.
Portuguese Técnico Solar Boat is a university project developed in 2015 that comprises students from various Engineering courses at the Instituto Superior Técnico who work together to develop competition boats powered by renewable energy.
Portuguese Técnico Solar Boat has shown its incredible performance in the Monaco Championship Race and the Slalom Race led by a team from Lisbon’s Instituto Superior Técnico. The Portuguese boat has also won the Eco-Conception Prize for the design of the São Miguel 02, a hydrogen-powered boat prototype, which rewards sustainable practices in the development of a prototype.
The Monaco Energy Boat Challenge is more than just a competition, it is a visual spectacle showcasing innovation, design and performance, from the sleek design of the boats to the intensity of the competitors, to the grandiose scenery of Monaco. The competition celebrates the art and elegance of sustainable boating in the world of elite yachting through the yearly Monaco Energy Boat Challenge.
