What is Portugal´s Social Housing program in 2026?
The financing agreement between the EIB and the Government of Portugal is the first tranche of a total line of credit of 1.5 billion euros provided by the EIB with lower interest rates and longer grace periods.
The funding will be used for the construction and rehabilitation of houses under Portugal´s Social Housing program and the EIB's support is coupled with funding from municipalities responsible for social housing projects.
Portugal´s Social Housing program is one of the Government´s priorities for the construction and renovation of public housing in Portugal with the aim to ensure better living conditions for the most vulnerable families, according to Portugal´s Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing.
