Portugal news - What Portuguese beer just obtained 5 medals at the World Beer Awards 2023? Portuguese beer is in the spotlight with the Super Bock brand obtaining recognition at the international beer awards.
Opening a bottle of beer is like opening a bottle of champagne according to the motto of Super Bock's Selecção 1927 range of craft beers. 1927 is the year in which the Super Bock brand was registered and signals the beer’s specialty.
The Super Bock Selecção 1927 range is a country winner and obtained 3 Gold medals for the Munich Dunkel in the Dark Lager category, the Bavaria Weiss for the Bavarian-style Hefeweiss in the Wheat Beer category, and Japanese Rice Lager in the Rice Specialty Beer category.
The Portuguese brand has also obtained a Silver medal for the Super Bock Collector’s Edition 2022 in the Stout & Porter – Imperial Stout category and a Bronze medal for the Super Bock Coruja IPA in the IPA – American Style category.
The main beer types sold by the Portuguese brewery are the Super Bock Original - Pilsner, the Super Bock Stout - Sweet Stout, the Super Bock Green - Beer with lemon juice, the Super Bock Abadia - Belgian Abbey and the Super Bock Gluten-free Pilsner.
According to the study InMarket2020 by Multidados, Super Bock obtains 44% of consumer preference on the Portuguese market and Sagres obtains 34%, followed by Heineken with 7% and Estrella Galicia with 1%.
