Here is the first member of the British Royal family to be born in Portugal:
The first member of the British Royal family to be born in Portugal is the daughter of Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank, Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank, and she is 15th in line to the British throne.
¨Her name is part of the history of England and Portugal, two places we love and call home,” stated Princess Eugenie.
This is because the name Adelaide was partly inspired by Queen Adelaide, wife of William IV, and partly by a popular Portuguese Saint, Maria Adelaide, whose body was not corrupted by death.
Despite being born in Lisbon, Princess Eugenie's daughter Adelaide will not automatically acquire Portuguese nationality since none of her parents were legally resident in the country for at least five years. However, the possibility of obtaining Portuguese citizenship in the future remains.
Princess Eugenie´s Portuguese-born daughter, Adelaide, is her third child; since she already has two sons, namely August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, born in 2021, and Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank, born in 2023.
