  • WEXIT of wealthy Brits set to benefit the EU in a BREXIT reversal

WEXIT of wealthy Brits set to benefit the EU in a BREXIT reversal - Portugal Business News Portugal news – In an ironic BREXIT reversal, the UK’s wealth exodus, or WEXIT, is expected to include 10 billionaires and 85 centi-millionaires among the 9,500 high net worth individuals (HNWIs) who are set to leave the UK by the end of December this year.    While over 6,500 millionaires from the UK are expected to relocate to the EU, Portugal is among the countries that are expected to benefit from the wealth exodus.  68% of the millionaires and billionaires exiting from the UK will be heading for Europe, mainly to Italy, Malta, Greece, Portugal, Switzerland, Monaco, Cyprus, France, Spain, and the Netherlands.   The remaining 32% of high-net-worth individuals exiting from the UK are expected to relocate to the UAE (+800 HNWIs), followed by the US (+720), Australasia (+300), and the Caribbean Islands in 5th place, with +250 millionaires making a permanent move to their sun-drenched tropical shores.   The term ‘centi-millionaires’ refers to individuals with liquid investable wealth of USD 100 million or more while the terms ‘millionaires’ and ‘HNWIs’ refer to individuals with liquid investable wealth of USD 1 million or more.   The influx of HNWI will benefit the countries where they relocate, since over 60% of centi-millionaires are entrepreneurs and company founders, which makes them key when it comes to wealth creation. The businesses they start up have a significant positive spillover effect on the middle class as they create large numbers of well-paid jobs. It is also worth noting that most of the companies on the FTSE 100 were started by individuals who went on to become centi-millionaires.   The UK’s high tax rates and concerns about additional tax hikes that could be announced at the end of October in the Labour Party’s first budget in 14 years, are highlighted as being among the main reasons for the wealth exodus.    Henley & Partners has teamed up with wealth intelligence firm New World Wealth to publish their latest forecast and review the potential impact of the upcoming budget on UK wealth migration trends.   See “ What is the trend and growth in the percentage of millionaires by country and what are the tax rates worldwide? ”   #portugalnews #WEXIT #BREXITreversal # highnetworthindividualsleavingtheuk #millionairenews #billionairenews #millionairesmovingtoportugal

  • Portugal news – Prince Harry and Meghan may have to settle in Portugal

Are Harry and Meghan moving permanently to Portugal? Portugal news – Prince Harry and Meghan may have to settle in Portugal Portugal news - Prince Harry and Meghan may have to settle in their new house in Portugal since Prince Harry is currently unsure of his US immigration status and his visa application may be denied.   President-elect Donald Trump made a statement at the Conservative Political Action Conference in February that he might consider deporting Harry over issues regarding his US visa status, adding:  “I wouldn’t protect him. He betrayed the Queen. That’s unforgivable. He would be on his own.”   Despite being happy in California, Prince Harry and Meghan have just purchased a new £3.6 million villa in Portugal, near Princess Eugenie’s residence. While the plan is to use their new residence in Portugal as a holiday home, Prince Harry may have to settle in Portugal if Donald Trump goes ahead with his decision to deport Prince Harry over his US visa status.   Prince Harry and Meghan bought a new house in one of the 300 residences at the 722-acre Costa Terra Golf and Ocean Club resort in Portugal, that is located along an idyllic coastline with white sandy beaches. However, Prince Harry and Meghan are also facing another visa complication since they do not have European Union citizenship. It is possible that their new real estate investment in Portugal may help them obtain a Golden visa that will give them EU citizenship.   For Prince Harry and Meghan, the advantages of relocating to Portugal would be that they would not only be far from the usual news media harassment, but they would also be able to live a relaxed and healthy lifestyle while living next door to Princess Eugenie. Prince Harry and Meghan would be able to live with family members in Portugal as they not only enjoy the company of Princess Eugenie, but their children Archie who is 5, and Lilibet who is 3, would also be able to grow up with Princess Eugenie's sons, August who is 3, and Ernest who is 1, and thus develop stronger ties to members of the royal family.   Since Portugal is much closer to the UK than the US, it would make it much easier for Prince Harry and Meghan to visit the UK.  While Prince Harry and Meghan are not even entertaining the idea of relocating to the UK, Portugal might be a good location for going there for short visits.   Read: Where did Prince Harry and Meghan buy a new house in Portugal?   #portugalnews #newsprinceharryandmeghan #princeharryandmeghanportugal #princeharryandmeghanmayhavetosettleinportugal #princeharryandmeghanshouseinportugal #celebritiesnewsportugal #royaltynewsportugal
