Defence News Europe - Portugal signs an MOU with Dassault for Rafale fighter jets on September 23, 2026:
Portugal will replace its aging F-16 fighter jets with the Rafale fighter jets. AED Cluster Portugal and Dassault Aviation, representing the RAFALE partners Thales and Safran, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore potential areas of cooperation between the RAFALE partners and Portuguese industry.
Signed at the French Embassy in Portugal, the agreement comes in the context of the Portuguese Air Force’s F-16 fleet renewal and aims to further strengthen cooperation with the Portuguese industrial ecosystem.
Through this agreement, AED reinforces its commitment to connecting Portuguese industry with leading international players and fostering new opportunities for industrial cooperation and greater participation in global value chains.
Dassault Aviation is a French aerospace company that shapes the future by designing and building military aircraft, business jets and space systems. The French Defence company is a leader of the New Generation Fighter developed within the joint European program FCAS (Future Combat Air System).
