Portugal invests 133 million euros in Military Vehicles from UROVESA Spain

Defence News Europe - Portugal is investing 133 million euros to buy 75 Military Vehicles from UROVESA Spain. The investment is funded by EU SAFE, with deliveries expected between 2027 and 2029, according to an announcement by Portugal´s Ministry of Defence dated August 27th, 2026. The MoU for the purchase of VAMTAC military vehicles is signed in Porto today by the Deputy Director-General of Armaments, Rear Admiral António Mateus, and the Spanish Secretary of State for Defence, María Amparo Valcarce García, in a ceremony attended by the Ministers of Defence of Portugal and Spain, respectively Nuno Melo and Margarita Robles Fernández.
Portugal Defence plans to invest 5.8 billion euros in military equipment for its Armed Forces under SAFE (Security for Europe Action Instrument ) funding.
