Portuguese startup GTechPlasma develops revolutionary Stealth Technology - Portugal Business News

Defence News Europe - Portuguese startup GTechPlasma developed revolutionary Stealth Technology for high-quality graphene production with unique properties for absorption-based electromagnetic shielding and stealth applications that could make drones and airplanes nearly invisible to radars. Here is how the Graphene developed by GTechPlasma may revolutionize the Defence Industry:

What is GTechPlasma?

GTechPlasma is a spin-off of IPFN - Institute of Plasmas and Nuclear Fusion, that is a research unit of IST at the University of Lisbon. The Deep Tech startup in the field of Nanotechnology Research and Graphene Technologies

is hosted at Tecnico Venture Lab in Lisbon. The CEO of GTechPlasma is Ana Amaral Dias who is also a Researcher at IPFN and a Plasma and Materials Physicist.

GTechPlasma developed revolutionary STEALTH COATING through high-performance graphene-based coating formulations for electromagnetic shielding and stealth applications, operating across a broad frequency range between 5 and 70 GHz developed in the frame of a NATO-funded project.

The company also develops solutions for selective extraction of rare earth elements and uranium, as well as solid-state hydrogen storage technologies that have already demonstrated promising results.

GTechPlasma received an investment of 150,000 euros, becoming part of the Portugal Ventures' portfolio on July 28, 2026.

How the Graphene developed by GTechPlasma may revolutionize the Defence Industry:

The Graphene developed by GTechPlasma may revolutionize the Defence Industry since its properties include graphene with 99% purity that is ready to be incorporated into innovative and scalable plasma technology. At the time GTechPlasma developed their disruptive plasma technology, the graphene market was saturated with low-quality materials that often failed to deliver the promised performance.

The high-purity, customized graphene-based materials developed for the Defence Industry focus on lightweight electromagnetic shielding, absorption and advanced composite systems. The  GTechPlasma platform supports co-development, testing and qualification for demanding aerospace, naval, communications and protected-electronics environments.

Here are the main properties of the Graphene developed by GTechPlasma:

1 - The Graphene enables EMI shielding and electromagnetic absorption

2 - The Graphene enables lightweight composites for aerospace and naval platforms

3 - The Graphene enables Stealth-related coatings and multifunctional materials

4 - The Graphene protects electronics, sensors and communication systems

5 - The Graphene enables custom R&D, qualification batches and certified material supply
