Portugal news - Portugal will hold the Global Summit on digital sustainability, the Global Summit Cascais, on 9 – 11 July 2024 under the Global Enabling Sustainability Initiative (GeSI).

The Global Summit, that will be held on the Portuguese Riviera in the district of Lisbon, will host over 60 internationally renowned speakers, including economist Jeffrey Sachs, the Digital Development Program Director of Microsoft - André Aragão Azevedo, the Head of Sustainability EMEA of Google - Adam Elman, and the President of the Republic of Portugal - Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.

GeSI, that is headquartered in Brussels, fosters a sustainable world through responsible, ICT-enabled transformation. The Digital with Purpose Global Summit seeks to position innovation and digital solutions as central components of the sustainability agenda. The Digital with Purpose (DWP) initiative was founded on the belief that the paths of human development and technological evolution are deeply intertwined, with the capacity to impact our world positively or negatively.

The DWP Global Summit is a flagship event for digital leaders and hosts both public and private sector decision-makers to accelerate the use of digital innovations that benefit society and achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

The Digital with Purpose Global Summit 2024 in Portugal will discuss sustainable finance, as well as sustainable digital solutions in the automotive industry, energy, science, health, environment and climate, agriculture, education, art, tourism, logistics and distribution, fintech, business, information technology, and the use of AI for water management.
