Portugal news - Portuguese textile company Familitex, that replaced coal with corn to produce elastane, generated a turnover 23 million euros in 2023. The Portuguese textile company launched an innovative organic elastane that is 30% derived from corn.

 

The textile company, that produces circular knits in northern Portugal, is one of the largest companies in the Portuguese textile sector. The company, that has operations in Portugal, Spain, France, UK, Italy, Slovakia, and Morocco, focuses on developing innovative knitwear products.  

 

Familitex is currently preparing to launch a new Spring-Summer 2025 collection focused on sustainability with high-quality knits, organic cotton, and recycled polyester.

 

With an emphasis on recyclable knits, Familitex is committed to sustainability and social responsibility through eco-friendly work methodologies and the certification of fabrics. The success of the Portuguese company is driven by the development of innovative and sustainable textile products.
