Portugal news - Portugal is creating a new type of Golden Visa for investment in its cultural heritage. With this new type of Golden Visa, that will replace the former Golden Visa regime, foreigners who want to buy property in Portugal will be defined as immigrant entrepreneurs.
Portugal’s Parliament is expected to approve future residency applications under the new Golden Visa regime for investment in the artistic production, restoration or maintenance of the national cultural heritage.
This new Visa regime follows Portugal’s program for more housing that led to stopping the Golden Visa under the regime for Investment Residence Permits for investment in real estate. However, the new type of Golden Visa will be under the regime for investment in the restoration of Portugal’s national cultural heritage. This new regime is linked to immigrant entrepreneurs who are also covered under the StartUp Visa.
Since the new law has not yet entered into force, Portugal’s Prime Minister has just stated that applications for Golden Visas under the former regime will still be processed.
