Defence News Europe - Portugal´s Navy is hosting REPMUS 2026, the world's largest robotics and Maritime Unmanned Systems exercise in collaboration with the NATO Joint Capability Group Maritime Unmanned Systems, the European Defence Agency, the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, and the Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation on August 31st - September 25th, 2026. What is REPMUS 2026?
REPMUS (Robotic Experimentation and Prototyping with Maritime Unmanned Systems) 2026 is the world's largest robotics and Maritime Unmanned Systems exercise held in collaboration with the NATO Joint Capability Group Maritime Unmanned Systems and the European Defence Agency, and is hosted in Portugal on August 31st - September 25th, 2026. It will be held in the Troia Peninsula that is in Portugal´s Alentejo region, namely at the Navy's Operational Experimentation Center in Troia, and in the Infante D. Henrique Technological Free Zone, covering an area of over 400 square nautical miles, equivalent to more than 1,370 square kilometers.
REPMUS 2026 brings together some of the main military, scientific and technological organizations dedicated to the development of unmanned systems.
REPMUS 2026 will involve more than 1,500 people from 36 navies, as well as more than 60 research and development companies, 13 universities, and five NATO entities linked to maritime operations and unmanned maritime systems.
More than 300 unmanned maritime systems supported by 14 ships will carry out a series of experiments designed to test, evaluate, and develop technologies that could contribute to shaping the future of maritime security and Defense.

Surface Unmanned Systems
Subsurface Maritime Unmanned Systems
Air Unmanned Systems
Land-based Unmanned Systems
The REPMUS 2026 exercise will allow for the testing of new Defence capabilities and concepts in an operational environment, promoting collaboration between armed forces, industry, academia, and international organizations.
